Lords of the Fallen gets a new update this November
The gaming community eagerly anticipates updates for popular titles, and Lords of the Fallen has certainly made waves with its latest release. The 1.6 update, unveiled in November 2024, introduces significant enhancements aimed at improving both gameplay quality and user experience for its players.
The most striking feature of the update is the optimization for the PlayStation 5 Pro. For those who prefer visual fidelity, quality mode offers 4K output at 30 FPS. Furthermore, the texture density has seen a substantial increase of 40%, enhancing the overall visual experience.
One of the challenges faced by newcomers to Soulslike games is the steep learning curve. To address this, the update introduces a more comprehensive tutorial designed to help new players acclimatize to the game mechanics and combat systems more effectively. Beyond just visual enhancements, the update includes various performance improvements that ensure a smoother gaming experience. This includes enhanced loading times, reduced frame drops, and overall optimization for better stability during gameplay. The latest patch also addresses gameplay balance. Developers have made various adjustments to character abilities, enemy strengths, and loot distribution.
In addition to the current updates, fans of Lords of the Fallen have exciting news to look forward to a sequel is already in production. Lords of the Fallen 1.6 update
Gameplay Enhancements
- Troop Density: Based on your input, we’ve adjusted certain mob encounters to create a smoother, more immersive combat experience by isolating instances to prevent mobs from piling up. Returning players may want to start anew, as we’ve added some surprises. (The original enemy distribution and density can still be accessed through NG+ modifiers.)
- Ranged Enemies: We’ve adjusted certain ranged units’ perceptions to correct cases that felt unfair or unrealistic.
- Jumps: Platforms in Pilgrim’s Perch have been refined with improved indicators, making jumps clearer and navigation smoother.
- PvP Scaling: To enhance skill-based PvP, we’ve rebalanced scaling mechanics, especially for weapons and spells with magical infusion. These changes are exclusive to PvP, so PvE players can continue with their current builds unaffected.
- Attack Drift: Some weapon attacks have been slightly adjusted to reduce drift, providing a greater sense of control while preserving effectiveness and supporting your playstyle.
Improved Tutorial Experience
- Improved Lighting in the Profaned Sepulcher: Enhanced lighting and visual adjustments make this initial tutorial area clearer and easier to navigate.
- Gradual Tutorialization of Umbral: Core skills like “soul rip” and “siphoning” now have dedicated tutorial spaces later in Redcopse, allowing new players to gradually familiarize themselves with each feature.
- Simplified First Jump Tutorial: We’ve refined the jump tutorial to be more accessible (raise your hand in the comments if you cleared it on the first try).
- Lightreaper Boss Adjustment in NG0: To clarify the intended design of this encounter, we’ve removed the Lightreaper Boss fight from the tutorial area for NG0 players. Don’t worry—the Lightreaper still lurks in Mournstead and will make a surprise return in NG+.
A More Immersive Umbral Realm for Explorers
- Dynamic Ambient Sound: The initial entry into Umbral now features subtler soundscapes that increase in intensity the longer you stay, reaching a crescendo before you must find an exit or risk facing the Crimson Reaper.
- Adjusted Enemy Spawn Curve: Enemy spawns are now better synchronized to create a gradual and smoother tension buildup.
- Scarlet Shadow Delay Increased: You now have more time to explore before the Scarlet Shadow appears, heightening suspense.
- Reduced Vignette Effect: Based on player feedback, we’ve softened the vignette effect to improve visibility while exploring Umbral.
- Clearer Umbral Eggs: We’ve added a special effect to the eggs from which Umbral natives emerge, as some players had difficulty distinguishing between active and inactive eggs.
Performance
-
We’ve implemented additional performance improvements in several of the game’s most graphically demanding areas, optimizing the experience for players on lower-spec computers.
Multiplayer
-
Now that Lords of the Fallen fully utilizes the power of PS5 Pro, prepare for a new wave of cross-platform players venturing into Mournstead! Be sure to greet them warmly in co-op—or with the cold edge of your sword in PvP.
