Logitech gives the MX Master 4 a fresh look with Developer Edition

Logitech gives its flagship MX Master 4 mouse a Developer Edition makeover

Logitech has officially revealed a new MX Master 4 Special Edition, following an earlier leak that hinted at a different design. Rather than introducing new hardware, the limited-edition mouse gives the company's productivity flagship a developer-inspired makeover, complete with programming references and bright green accents.

The MX Master 4 Special Edition costs $119.99 / €129,99 / £119.99, matching the price of the standard model. Pre-orders are now open, with shipping expected to begin on October 30. Logitech describes the release as a limited drop, meaning availability will depend on remaining stock.

Underneath the new finish, the mouse retains the same features as the regular MX Master 4. Its MagSpeed scroll wheel switches between ratcheted and free-spinning modes, allowing users to scroll through as many as 1,000 lines per second. The mouse also includes built-in haptic feedback and a dedicated Actions Ring button for accessing shortcuts and frequently used tools.

Tracking is handled by an 8,000 DPI sensor that works on glass surfaces at least 4mm thick, making the mouse suitable for a variety of desk setups. However, anyone hoping for improved performance or additional functionality will need to look elsewhere, as Logitech has not announced any hardware changes for this edition.

Instead, the main attraction is its appearance. The Special Edition combines light gray and silver sections with a dark charcoal palm rest, highlighted by vivid lime-green accents. Angular white patterns cover parts of the main buttons, while developer-themed details are scattered across the body. These include “//Special Edition” on the right button and “Hello, World!” printed along the thumb rest, accompanied by other symbols and code-inspired markings.

The design also differs significantly from the version shown in an earlier leak. That model appeared to use the standard Pale Gray color scheme with red accents, whereas the official release features a more colorful, programming-inspired aesthetic. Logitech has not indicated whether the previously leaked design represents another upcoming variant.

For now, the developer-themed MX Master 4 Special Edition is the only officially listed version. Its appeal will largely depend on whether buyers prefer the distinctive styling over the standard mouse, since the underlying hardware remains unchanged. Meanwhile, the premium peripheral market continues to see new releases, including the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro, ASUS ROG Gladius IV Ace, Logitech’s Pro X3 Superstrike, and other high-end mice aimed at gaming and productivity enthusiasts.
