Leaked images of Nintendo Switch 2 motherboard reveal support for ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS
Three leaked photos show that the Nintendo Switch 2 motherboard uses SK Hynix H58GE6AK8B LPDDR5X memory. Another notable detail is the NVIDIA logo, prominently displayed on the motherboard, reaffirming earlier rumors that the device will continue to be powered by NVIDIA hardware.
Specifically, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to use the Tegra 239 chip, part of NVIDIA’s Orin System-on-Chip (SoC) lineup. This chip is equipped with an ARM Cortex-A78AE CPU, while the GPU is based on Ampere architecture, featuring 2048 CUDA cores. Hardware support for Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction also confirms the device’s ability to deliver high-end graphics capabilities, including ray tracing.
However, recent rumors suggest that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not integrate Frame Generation technology. Nevertheless, developers may combine DLSS Super Resolution with AMD FSR Frame Generation to optimize performance for games.

Despite the advancements, the hardware of the Nintendo Switch 2 is predicted to remain weaker than that of the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S|X. Experts believe the Switch 2’s performance may be limited to 4K resolution and 30 FPS when docked, which aligns with Nintendo’s tradition of prioritizing innovative gameplay experiences over competing in the hardware power race.
Compared to its predecessor, the Switch 2 is expected to retain the hybrid concept of combining handheld portability with the ability to connect to a larger display, a formula that made the original Switch a massive success. This strategy allowed the Nintendo Switch to surpass the lifetime sales of the PlayStation 2 in the U.S. market, though globally, the PS2 remains ahead. The Switch may come closer to this milestone before the end of its lifecycle.
The frequency of recent leaks suggests that Nintendo is gearing up for an official announcement. According to rumors, the Switch 2 could be unveiled on January 8, 2025, with accessories for the device possibly going on sale from March 28, 2025.
The latest news about the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to generate significant interest from both the tech and gaming communities. If the rumors are accurate, an early 2025 launch would allow Nintendo to maximize attention ahead of critical market phases later in the year.
