Happy anniversary, Anno!

Ubisoft is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Anno real-time strategy series with a free gift. You can get Anno 1602 - also known as 1602 AD in North America - completely free until December 22. You can get your free copy of the game claiming it on Uplay or through the Ubisoft website. You will need to create an account to log in if you don't have one already.

The game is the first title of the Anno series and it was released in 1998. It´s a construction and management title, a mix of simulation and real-time strategy where you will control an unnamed European nation looking to expand its territory into the New World in 1602 AD. You will have to build and develop your colony, researching technology upgrades, managing production and expanding your influence. Anno 1602 is a solid game that managed to become a commercial blockbuster, serving as the foundation for the long-running Anno series. It´s 20 years old, of course, but that doesn't mean that it can not deliver hours of fun to the fans of the RTS genre, and it could also work sort of as a warm-up for those waiting for the launch of the upcoming Anno 1800, which is coming on February 26, 2019.
