Greedfall 2: The Dying World prepares for an Early Access launch

Spiders is taking Greedfall 2 a step further to improve its gameplay experience so it can surpass its predecessor. If the original Greedfall offers an exciting adventure set in a colonial era represented with a fantasy tint, its sequel will transport players back to the same scenario but this time taking on a very different role than in the first game. Instead of being a noble who arrives at the island of Teer Fradee and soon gets immersed into an adventure that he never expected, in Greedfall 2 the protagonist is a native who was captured and enslaved during a raid. When the opportunity appears, she fights for her freedom and escapes, beginning an epic adventure. The story ahead will be full of exciting surprises.

Early Access is the way

According to an official announcement from Spiders, Greedfall 2 will soon launch in Early Access. The game will follow a similar path to Baldur's Gate III. Players who purchase the game ahead of the final release date will contribute to its development and have access to limited content. The whole Early Access experience will probably be expanded later on as the development continues but the complete game should only be available to discover when its final version is ready to be released.

"At launch, players will have access to the entire beginning of the game. They will be able to explore new environments. And then we are planning updates at regular intervals. To be clear from the outset, saves won't be compatible between the various updates."

Greedfall 2: The Dying World will offer an intermittent and limited experience that will significantly change as new updates are released, which is something quite common for games at this stage. If Spiders plays well its cards, this could greatly contribute to creating a unique experience while allowing the studio to gauge players' opinions about the novelties implemented in the game, like a new combat system that lets you control your companions.
