Claim the nostalgic card battler Cardpocalypse free on Epic this week

The Epic Games Store has refreshed its latest free game giveaway, meaning last week's Caravan SandWitch offer has now ended. Taking its place is Cardpocalypse, a quirky role-playing game that PC players can claim and permanently add to their libraries over the next seven days.

Cardpocalypse takes players back to the 1990s, putting them in control of Jess, a 10-year-old student who is completely obsessed with the collectible card game Mega Mutant Power Pets. Things quickly spiral out of control when the game's characters suddenly come to life, forcing Jess and her friends to master deck-building and fight back against an invasion of mutants.

The adventure combines card battles with plenty of traditional RPG elements. You'll explore the school, make friends, complete quests, trade cards, and build a custom deck to take on increasingly dangerous enemies. Cards can be collected, upgraded, customized, and even permanently altered as you progress, while the choices you make can influence your journey.

If the main campaign isn't enough, Cardpocalypse also includes Gauntlet Mode, which offers a more replayable experience built around roguelike-style challenges. It's a nice extra for anyone who enjoys experimenting with different decks and testing their skills through repeated runs.

The developer, Gambrinous, is also known for Guild of Dungeoneering, and Cardpocalypse leans heavily into its nostalgic 1990s setting. The game recreates an era of floppy disks, printed gaming magazines, and childhood card-game obsessions, while mixing those nostalgic touches with a colorful mutant invasion.

That's not all Epic is giving away this week. Players can also grab a bonus pack for the free-to-play MMORPG Albion Online. The Epic Mage Bundle includes various cosmetic items, tokens, healing potions, and other goodies, with the contents reportedly worth more than $55 (approx. €51 / £43).

The Cardpocalypse giveaway is available on the Epic Games Store until August 27, giving you seven days to claim it. Once the promotion ends, two new freebies will take its place: Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing.
