Mechs are only half the story in Brigador Killers
Brigador Killers is the kind of sequel that clearly did not want to play it safe. Instead of simply giving players more mechs, more guns and more buildings to flatten, Stellar Jockeys and Gausswerks have pushed the original Brigador formula in a much bigger direction.
You can still climb into heavy vehicles and turn city streets into rubble, but now you can also get out, fight on foot, scavenge weapons, manage equipment and steal whatever machine looks useful next. It makes the whole game feel less like a straightforward mech shooter and more like a rough, chaotic sandbox where things can go wrong very quickly.
The story takes players to Mar Nosso, the homeworld of the SNC, where Team Anchor is dealing with the fallout left behind by the first game. This time, the perspective has shifted. The people you once played as are no longer just faceless pilots on a mission, and Brigador Killers is much more interested in what happens after all that destruction.
There is plenty of old-school DNA here too. The team behind the game has named Syndicate and Crusader: No Remorse among its influences, and you can see why. There is that same love of isometric combat, dangerous city streets and letting players solve problems in ways that are usually louder than necessary.
It is Early Access, and it shows
Brigador Killers entered Early Access on August 20, 2026, with more than 30 missions, a sizeable weapon selection, different vehicles and a progression system built around scavenging and upgrading your gear.
Reception, however, has been noticeably more divided than it was for the demo. The demo earned a very strong response from players, while the Early Access version is currently sitting in the Mixed review range on Steam.
Some players have pointed to difficulty spikes, inventory management, balance problems and technical issues. The studio has already started making changes, including adjustments to enemy numbers, reinforcement timing, ammunition drops and mission difficulty.
That mixed reception is worth mentioning, but so is the big label sitting right above the Buy button: Early Access.
This is not the finished version of Brigador Killers. Balance can change, systems can be reworked, bugs can disappear and new ones can show up. That is simply part of buying a game while it is still being built. Early Access should be judged as Early Access, not as if 1.0 has already arrived.
For now, Brigador Killers is a strange, ambitious and very promising work in progress. If stomping around in mechs, jumping out with a rifle and causing expensive-looking destruction sounds like your thing, use our price comparison tool to find the best prices for Brigador Killers before heading into Mar Nosso.
