Discover more details about the dual reality system in The Medium

We told you about it some time ago, The Medium will feature a revolutionary dual reality feature, so unique that Bloober Team has patented it. Although we were supposed to be able to play The Medium starting on December 10, the release of the game has been postponed to January 28, 2021, which is not that bad because it would be available on the same day as Cyberpunk 2077 which would make the choice more difficult.

While we are waiting for the arrival of the game, the developer Bloober Team continues to unveil information about it. Game producer Jacek Zieba has spoken in Gamingbolt columns about several aspects of The Medium, starting with the lifespan of the game. It seems that it will take between 8 and 10 hours to complete the story. Although looks like a rather short game if you compare it to some other games that are available right now, you have to keep in mind that The Medium is a narrative horror game, so that's perfectly normal in this case. Another point that was mentioned, is the famous dual reality system that intrigues players so much.

“The main belief of the game is duality and providing different points of view, starting from story to gameplay ending, which is why dual reality gameplay is one of the foundations of The Medium. The game does not appear with dual reality gameplay all the time as players can expect to play in it about 33% of the game, while the rest of the game takes place within a single reality, either in the real world or in the spiritual world.” 

He added that even if their goal is to surprise the player throughout the game, it is indeed better not to abuse this feature at the risk of making it boring. Each world of The Medium will offer its own unique gameplay elements. He also reminds us that The Medium draws inspiration from titles like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, and that the double reality will reinforce this feeling of insecurity that we can find in any good horror game.
