Digimon Story: Time Stranger frame rate and resolution reveals
The next chapter in the beloved Digimon Story series is officially on the horizon. Bandai Namco has confirmed that Digimon Story: Time Stranger will launch on October 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Alongside the release date, the publisher has also shared a full technical breakdown of how the game will perform across each platform—sparking plenty of discussion.
According to the updated specs page on the game’s official Japanese website, Digimon Story: Time Stranger will run at a locked 30 frames per second across all console platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While the decision may disappoint players hoping for a smoother next-gen experience, PC players will be able to enjoy the game at 60fps, provided their hardware meets the recommended requirements.
In terms of resolution, Digimon Story: Time Stranger offers native 4K (3840×2160) on PS5 and Xbox Series X, while the Xbox Series S version will run at 1440p. The PC version supports a resolution range from 1280×720 to 3840×2400, offering players more flexibility depending on their setup. Unfortunately, HDR support is not available on any platform.
Storage requirements are also modest. The PS5 version comes in at 19GB (plus additional data), while the Xbox and PC versions require 25GB and 27GB, respectively. All versions include one autosave slot and up to 15 manual save slots, ensuring players have plenty of room to manage multiple playthroughs or save states.
A Return to the Digital World
Digimon Story: Time Stranger brings players back into the Digital World for a brand-new story that spans across time and dimensions. Players will explore both modern Tokyo and the mysterious realm of Iliad, home to over 450 Digimon. With turn-based battles, deep Digimon customization, and interactive environments, Time Stranger aims to be the most ambitious entry in the series to date.
While the 30 fps cap on consoles may not please everyone, the game’s scope and story-driven design could make up for the technical compromises. Fans of monster-taming RPGs and long-time Digimon enthusiasts have plenty to look forward to when Digimon Story: Time Stranger.
