Cuphead's DLC has been delayed again
Cuphead surpassed all expectations for a run and gun game reaching quite high levels of popularity. With its polished gameplay and neat graphics inspired by the cartoons of the 1930s, the game has become quite a success since it was launched in 2017. It alternates challenging bosses with run an gun stages, pretty much like most of the other games in the genre, but t also includes some stages in which you will fight enemies while piloting a plane, like in classic shoot 'em up side-scrolling games. It also features weapons and abilities to equip your character. But overall, it's aesthetics and gameplay have made it stand out over the others.
The fans of Cuphead were gladly surprised when the first DLC for the game was revealed in 2018 during the E3. With a release scheduled for 2019, this expansion titled The Delicious Last Course will include a new playable character that will accompany Cuphead and his brother Mugman in their adventures, as well as new levels and bosses. Unfortunately, the release of the expansion was delayed, and now it seems that it's happening again and that we won't have more content for Cuphead this year either. Developer Studio MDHR has confirmed it via Twitter:
"In true Studio MDHR fashion, we aren't content for this final chapter to be anything less than our best work. Throughout development, we've challenged ourselves to put everything we learned from making Cuphead into the quality of The Delicious Last Course's animation, design, and music.
Meeting this standard has been extremely challenging for us amid the global pandemic that has affected so many of our fellow developers. Rather than compromise on our vision in response to COVID, we've made the difficult decision to push back the release of The Delicious Last Course until we are confident it will delight the Cuphead community the way we feel it should."
No official release date for The Delicious Last Course yet, but it's quite likely that we won't have more news about it until 2021. Until that happens, Cuphead keeps offering the same incredible level of fun and challenge to the fans.
