Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion gets its launch trailer

We're only two weeks before its official release, but that hasn't stopped Square Enix from releasing the launch trailer for Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion. The remaster of the PSP game brings updated graphics to modern consoles, more dynamic gameplay, and remastered voice acting.

The developer's video shows parts of the game's story, moments of action, and some of the mechanics' changes. Many previews claim that the title is more enjoyable due to these various differences. The combat system now prioritizes even more real-time commands, allowing additional moves to be combined, seamlessly improving the action with fewer interruptions. Now the player can use up to six shortcut buttons to trigger items, spells, and other abilities.

First-timers can enjoy Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion without worrying about Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game is a prequel to Cloud and the party's story and even helps set the lore of the mainline. One caveat, however. Nomura said in an interview that since none of Crisis Core's story will be changed, some elements will seem inconsistent with the new version of Cloud's journey. According to him, this contradiction is intentional, but all will be clarified when the trilogy is completed. It will still take a while since Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has a release window for winter 2023/2024, and the third title should only come out further in the future.

Finally unlocked from PSP, fans and players worldwide will be able to enjoy Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion. The remastered version of the game will be released on December 13, 2022, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Those who pre-order the digital version will receive the SOLDIER Materia Set. This set will make three materia including Dark Fire, Dark Thunder, and Dark Blizzard available early in the game.
