Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time shows its gameplay

The announcement of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time last month, delighted all fans of the series. With a release scheduled for October 2, 2020 on PS4 and Xbox One, very little of the game has been revealed until now, but we have just discovered the first images of its gameplay, which give us an idea about how the new mechanics brought by the new quantum masks are going to work.

We can now know a little more about the functions of two of these new masks thanks to a demo of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time that has been played by several media. It has two levels, Snow Way Out and Dino Dash. The first presents us with a mask that grants the power to slow down time. In particular, it allows you to overcome insurmountable obstacles and to avoid enemies, but it also works with “!".

We also discover the way in which we can play the other characters, in particular Neo Cortex. Once the level is completed, it is possible to play it again with the antagonist, from a different perspective. This will obviously be the only way to play with Neo Cortex, unlike Coco who will also be there, but that we can choose for each level. We also discovered the powers of Cortex, who will be equipped with a laser gun that transforms the enemies into a platform, or a trampoline if we shoot them a second time, because he will be deprived of a double jump. On the other hand, he will have a dash skill that seems particularly exhilarating when you know how to control it.

In the second level of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time that has been showed we can see a mask which allows us to interact with certain objects, such as crates or obstacles, and that can make them appear and disappear.

The second video from Game Informer also tells us about another aspect of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time: its difficulty. It will be possible to play in two different difficulty modes: Retro, with a limited number of lives and a game over, and Modern, with unlimited lives but a death counter. Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time seems to keep the essence of the original games on this matter by offering a certain dose of "die and retry" to cross certain passages.
