Cities: Skylines II will have quite an unusual launch

When a new game is about to release its developer and publisher usually make an effort to advertise its novelties and features to boost up the sales. Cities: Skylines II has not been any different on that matter until now. Paradox Interactive has surprised the fans of the series by unexpectedly announcing that the game will not be up to the developer standards at launch, which is something that hardly ever happens. In most cases, players find out any issues a game may have the hard way, which usually is by getting disappointed on day one after buying it. Well, this is not happening with Cities: Skylines II as Paradox has been crystal clear when it comes to explaining what players will find when the game is released.

An official explanation

A post on the official Cities: Skylines II forums delves into this matter and bluntly addresses the concerns about the game's performance.

"Cities: Skylines II is a next-gen title, and naturally, it demands certain hardware requirements. With that said, while our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the best experience possible, we have not achieved the benchmark we targeted.

In light of this, we still think for the long-term of the project, releasing now is the best way forward. We are proud of the unique gameplay and features in Cities: Skylines II, and we genuinely believe that it offers a great experience that you will enjoy."

No excuses, no unpleasant surprises, and hopefully no refunds for those who believe in a project that will take the simulation series to a new level of realism with a plethora of exciting features. Instead of delaying the release of Cities: Skylines II on PC, the developer has decided to let the players experience the game in its current state and see how it evolves through future changes. The big difference here is that if you are not willing to go through that you can choose to wait until they finish working on the game, which is something you wouldn't think of doing if uninformed.

In any case, it's not like Cities: Skylines II will not offer a satisfying experience at launch, but all improvements are always welcome. If you don't care about this minor problem and still want to immerse yourself in the experience, the release of the game on PC is still scheduled for next week, and the best deals on Cities: Skylines II steam keys are available with our comparator.
