Astro Bot is a very strong candidate for the GOTY
Watching a platformer get the coveted Game of the Year award is something that has happened before, but it's a genre that somehow tends to get shadowed by others. Last year, the undisputed winner was Baldur's Gate 3, which won awards in many categories for obvious reasons. However, it may be quite different this year with Astro Bot, a platformer adventure that caught everyone by surprise when it was announced last May during the State of Play. Team Asobi has created this jewel of a game with a small team of just 60 people, but the result of their work is outstanding at all levels. The sequel to Astro's Playroom lets you delve into a universe that has many elements resembling Sony PlayStation consoles, like the Dual Sense controller. This unique 3D platformer lets you play as Astro Bot, a small robot who traverses the galaxy alongside his crewmates. When they are attacked by a green alien, their spaceship crashes, and Astro Bot find himself alone. He embarks on a quest to explore the universe and rescue his crewmates.
A masterpiece
Astro Bot does not need much more in terms of story to convince players. the game's strong point is the incredibly fun gameplay experience it provides to the fans of the genre. With several galaxies and more than 80 levels to explore, the game offers you many hours of exhilarating gameplay as you jump, dash, and punch countless enemies and bosses while traversing colourful scenarios. With more than 300 bots to find, you have plenty of work to do before you finish your adventure. Some of the bots you will find will be V.I.P. variants, and they are related to a specific PlayStation character from other video games, like Kratos from God of War. You can also gather currency that you can use to purchase items from a "gacha" shop. With 15 abilities to unlock as you progress, Astro Bot also has many ways to enhance its movement and combat capabilities.
Astro Bot has Sony PlayStation written all over it. However, the game does not use that fact as a stepping stone to become a product that fans would like to buy. Instead, it focuses on delivering an astoundingly good platformer experience that anyone would love. Whether it becomes the next Game of the Year or not, it's the first solid candidate for the award that has been released this year, and most reviews agree on that.
Of course, if you want to discover this unique and exceptional 3D platformer with a tiny and cute robot as a protagonist, make sure to use our comparator to get the cheapest Astro Bot PS5 code and get ready to rescue your friends in an epic adventure.
