Acer adds the Predator Atlas 7 to its growing gaming handheld lineup

Acer is expanding its Predator Atlas gaming handheld lineup with the Predator Atlas 7, a more compact sibling to the Atlas 8 unveiled earlier this year. Announced during IFA in Berlin, the new model aims to deliver similar flagship performance while making the device easier to hold and carry.

The biggest difference is the display. As its name suggests, the Atlas 7 features a 7-inch 16:9 FHD touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 500 nits of brightness. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus provides additional protection against scratches and accidental drops. While most modern gaming handhelds have moved toward 8-inch or larger displays, Acer believes the smaller footprint can make a meaningful difference in comfort. To achieve that, the Atlas 7 has redesigned ergonomics with more pronounced grips, a larger palm-rest area, recessed keys and an anti-slip surface, making it easier to keep a firm grip during longer gaming sessions.

Under the hood, the Atlas 7 shares much of its hardware philosophy with the Atlas 8. The handheld can be configured with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor, paired with up to Intel Arc B390 graphics. The platform represents Intel's major attempt to establish itself in the gaming handheld market with hardware designed specifically for this form factor. Few 7-inch handhelds exist, as most are 8-9 inches, and none, like the ROG Ally X or ROG Xbox Ally X, feature the Arc G3.

Acer is also fitting the smaller device with surprisingly substantial hardware elsewhere. Configurations can include up to 24GB of memory and 1TB of storage, while the largest battery option reaches 80Wh. Despite that capacity, the Atlas 7 weighs less than 750 grams. A lighter configuration with a 60Wh battery comes in below 700 grams. Cooling is handled by a dual-fan system.

For controls, Acer offers TMR joysticks designed for improved precision, alongside Hall-effect analog triggers that provide more accurate pressure input. Connectivity includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a microSD card reader, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Buyers will also receive two months of Xbox Game Pass and two months of PC Game Pass, although continued access will require a subscription after the promotional period. Acer hasn't announced pricing yet. The Predator Atlas 7 is expected to arrive in North America during Q4 2026, while the Predator Atlas 8 will be available later this month.

The company also showed off its 8-inch Project DualPlay Mini concept at IFA, which combines a gaming handheld with a laptop-style productivity setup.
