Post Scriptum is a World War II simulation game that focuses on historical precision, large scale combat, with a demanding learning curve and an extreme need for consistency, communication, and cooperation. Players will recreate the events of "Operation Market Garden" through the fields and towns of Holland. In the game, a massive Allied assault force, comprised of the organization of the British and American Airborne, has to capture critical bridges, while the British XXX Corps need to move to reinforce them through Highway 69. However, successive delays in covering ground from the north of Belgium through Nijmegen forced the 1st British Airborne Division in Arnhem to make a stand much longer than projected. With a broken link between the XXX Corps and the Airborne in sight, the seventh and final bridge in Arnhem was considered lost.

"The Bloody Seventh" is the name for the primary focus of the project as the developers feel that it concisely details the struggle that the British paratroopers had to endure while waiting for their army counterpart to build a link through the lower Rhine.

Players will be given a choice to fight with British Airborne Division, British XXX Corps, 82nd US Airborne, 101st US Airborne or numerous branches of the German Army, such as the Wehrmacht or the Waffen SS. It’s a rare opportunity to relive the bloody battlefield that was Operation Market Garden, which stretched across farms, woods, villages, and city areas. Each area has been precisely recreated from archival references that range from street level to aerial images. Whether you’re leaping out of a plane, resupplying friendlies or operating a tank, you will find various reasons to drop back into the battlefield in this impressive demonstration of a WW2 setting that has never before been explored in a full-scale multiplayer environment.

    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does Squad 44's logistics system influence the front line's supply of ammunition and construction materials, and what are the consequences of a poorly managed supply chain?
Squad 44's logistics system is central to victory. Squads require supplies to build fortifications, and rearm. Poor supply management leads to ammunition shortages, weak defenses, and an inability to support offensive actions, ultimately causing the frontline to collapse.
In Squad 44, what specific roles do spotters play in the effectiveness of artillery strikes and how do they differ from a simple marksman?
Spotters in Squad 44 are crucial for artillery. They observe impacts, provide corrections, and designate targets. Unlike marksmen focused on individual targets, spotters ensure accurate indirect fire support.
How does the squad leader role function in Squad 44, and what are the primary methods a squad leader uses to issue orders and coordinate movements, differentiating it from other FPS games?
Squad leaders in Squad 44 have unique tools for coordinating action. They utilize map-based markers, direct voice communication with other squads and command, and give orders to their squad members for movement, and target designation, that go beyond simple waypoints.
Explain the significance of the 'building' mechanic in Squad 44, detailing the types of structures that can be erected and how they affect the battlefield's strategic layout.
Building is critical. Players can construct fortifications, from sandbag walls to anti-tank defenses, and even FOBs, influencing the battlefield's layout, providing cover, chokepoints, and defensive positions.
What is the role of a 'commander' in a Squad 44 match, and how do they oversee the broader strategic picture, interacting with other players in contrast to a simple squad leader?
Commanders oversee the entire battle, coordinating multiple squads, calling in air support, managing resources, and determining overall strategy. They use a map interface and communicate with squad leaders to direct the battle.
How does Squad 44 simulate realistic weapon ballistics, including bullet drop, wind, and effective range, and how does this influence combat engagements?
Squad 44 uses realistic ballistics, requiring players to account for bullet drop, and range. This significantly changes combat, making accurate shooting more challenging and emphasizing the importance of effective range estimation and teamwork.
Describe the squad-based gameplay in Squad 44, focusing on the importance of communication and teamwork, and how these elements affect the success of a squad.
Squads in Squad 44 function best through communication and teamwork. Roles such as rifleman, medic, and engineer are important. Coordinated movements, target prioritization, and mutual support are essential for survival and achieving objectives.
In Squad 44, how does the use of vehicles, such as tanks and armored personnel carriers, impact the flow of combat and how are they integrated with infantry operations?
Vehicles in Squad 44 provide firepower and transport but require coordination with infantry. Tanks can provide fire support, while APCs transport troops. Effective use of vehicles depends on infantry support to protect against anti-tank weaponry.
Explain the differences in gameplay between different factions available in Squad 44, especially concerning their equipment, tactics, and available vehicles.
Each faction in Squad 44 has unique equipment, tactics, and vehicles. For example, the US forces might have superior tanks, while the German forces might have superior anti-tank capabilities, impacting the way players approach combat.
How does the game's time-to-kill (TTK) influence the gameplay of Squad 44, emphasizing the importance of cover, tactical movement, and awareness on the battlefield?
Squad 44 has a relatively low TTK. This means players can be killed quickly, which greatly emphasizes the need for cover, careful movement, situational awareness, and tactical planning to survive.
