    FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 'shop management' aspect of Moonlighter interact with dungeon crawling?
You gather resources and loot from dungeons which you then sell in your shop. The money earned is used to upgrade your shop, craft better equipment for dungeon runs, and develop the town, creating a cyclical relationship between combat and commerce.
Can I influence the prices of items in my shop, and if so, how does this affect customer behavior?
Yes, you set your prices. Setting prices too high can deter customers, while setting them too low might lead to quick sales but lower profits. Observing customer reactions and adjusting prices is key to maximizing revenue.
What is the significance of the 'inventory management' system in relation to dungeon exploration?
Your inventory space is limited during dungeon runs. You must strategically decide which items to bring back to sell, balancing the potential value of loot with the space available, forcing tough decisions that affect your profit.
How do 'shop upgrades' impact both my business and my dungeon-crawling capabilities?
Shop upgrades increase your display space, attract more customers, and allow you to sell more items. They also provide crafting stations that help you create and improve your weapons and armor for your dungeon runs.
Is there a risk associated with leaving dungeons prematurely, and if so, what are the consequences?
Yes, if you choose to leave a dungeon early, you will lose everything that isn't in your inventory, and you will have to start again. You can only bring back items that are in your inventory, and the cost to return to town will consume a portal.
How do the 'dungeon portals' function, and how do they contribute to the gameplay loop?
Dungeon portals are the gateways to different procedural dungeons. Each portal leads to a unique dungeon with different enemies, hazards, and loot. They are essential to the loop as they determine the materials available for selling.
What are 'villager quests', and how do they integrate with the central gameplay mechanics?
Villagers will visit your shop to make requests. Completing villager quests provides rewards, such as new crafting blueprints, shop upgrades, and valuable items to aid your dungeon runs.
How does the 'reputation' system affect my shop and its interaction with the villagers?
A positive reputation attracts more customers, makes villagers happy, and unlocks new features. A poor reputation leads to less business and strained relationships with villagers, which might affect their willingness to make requests.
What is the purpose of crafting in the game, and how does it intertwine with dungeon exploration and shop management?
Crafting enables the creation of stronger weapons and armor, which increases your effectiveness in dungeons. The materials needed for crafting are found in dungeons, thus requiring you to crawl the dungeons and sell items in the shop.
How does the day-night cycle impact gameplay?
During the day, you run your shop and interact with the town. At night, you venture into dungeons. The passing of time affects customer flow in the shop, the availability of certain items, and the duration of your dungeon runs.
