To start, the Steam Frame is a wireless VR headset accompanied by controllers that can manage your entire Steam library. This streaming device is designed for both VR and non-VR gaming. It comes with a plug-and-play 6GHz adapter and operates on SteamOS, allowing for standalone gameplay across various games. It is driven by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and boasts 16 GB of RAM, 2160 x 2160 LCD panels (which support refresh rates from 72 to 144Hz), as well as camera tracking capabilities. The controllers are powered by AA batteries, providing around 40 hours of gameplay.
The Steam Machine is returning as a compact but powerful option. It allows players to access their entire Steam library effortlessly, claiming to deliver “over six times the power of the Steam Deck.” Operating on SteamOS, it supports 4K gaming at 60 FPS with FSR technology. You can select from 512 GB or 2TB versions, both of which have expandable storage options. Additionally, you can install applications or a different operating system if desired.
Lastly, the new Steam Controller is set to enhance the overall experience significantly. It is compatible with your PC, Steam Deck, Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and effectively any device that can run Steam. It includes a plug-and-play wireless transmitter that also serves as a charging station, while Bluetooth and USB connections are supported as well. Key features consist of responsive magnetic thumbsticks, high-definition rumble, and hold-and-release Grip Sense. Furthermore, it is entirely customizable via Steam Input.
All of this new Steam hardware is expected to launch in 2026.
