Ubisoft delays Rainbow Six Extraction and Riders Republic
Things are getting a turn for the worse for Ubisoft this year. The French union Solidaires Informatique has filed a formal complaint against the company. It accuses several executives of taking advantage of their positions to harass multiple people and also targets Ubisoft itself for "institutional sexual harassment". Pretty much, another case of toxic work culture that will be taken to court, giving the French company a good headache for sure. Whether those accusations are proven to be true or not, it's possible that the working environment is not the best one at Ubisoft right now, and news like that may be having a negative effect on the future projects of the French developer. One may think so after hearing that two of their games that were scheduled for this year are getting delayed.
The first one of them is the upcoming installment in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, which was planned for a September 16 release. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, previously announced as Quarantine, is a cooperative multiplayer tactical shooter that will pit a group of three players against aliens through a variety of missions where they have to accomplish certain objectives. This new take on the series leaves aside the intense PVP from other Rainbow Six games to deliver a different kind of experience. The launch of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction will take place in January 2022 according to an official statement from Ubisoft.
The second game that is getting delayed is Riders Republic, whose launch was originally announced for September 2021 after being delayed once already. But it seems that the developers need a bit more time to finish it, as it happens with Rainbow Six Extraction. All those that want to immerse themselves into this massively multiplayer sports game for adrenaline lovers will have to wait until October 28 to be able to play Riders Republic.
Even if Ubisoft's legal problems have nothing to do with the delays, it's not good very good news for those that were waiting for those games.
