The demo festival that Valve enjoys organizing between its major sales has returned. Just a few weeks after the Steam Autumn Sale, the October edition of Steam Next Fest has officially begun, showcasing thousands of demos for players to explore. This week-long digital event features demos primarily from indie developers, although some major publishers are also contributing their games.
As with previous editions, the event gives players the chance to try free demos of upcoming titles across a variety of genres and even interact with the developers behind them. To help players navigate the vast array of demos, the hub page provides various sorting and filtering options. At the top, there are buttons that give quick access to key sorting features like "By Genre, By Theme, By Feature," each offering more detailed settings when selected.
In the Charts section, players can view the most popular demos currently available on the platform, featuring the most talked-about titles in a straightforward list. Presently, some of the leading contenders include demos for Star Trek: Voyager Across the Unknown, Anno 117, Long Drive North, Servant of the Lake, YapYap, Cairn, and Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, among others. This list is likely to evolve as the week continues.
Additionally, the robust Steam tags system is available further down the page to facilitate faster discoveries. As always, logging into their accounts allows Steam users to use Valve's recommendation algorithms to find game demos tailored to their preferences based on their gaming and purchase histories.
This edition of the Steam Next Fest is set to conclude on October 20. Valve's latest event is currently live, and it can be accessed through the designated hub page here. As always, be sure to visit our free games page and keep an eye out for upcoming titles and special offers.
