SaGa Emerald Beyond will receive a demo soon

Square Enix has just announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the highly anticipated SaGa Emerald Beyond demo will be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4/5 starting April 4th at midnight local time. Steam players, your turn will come a bit later, with the demo releasing from 9 am PDT / 5 pm BST.

SaGa Emerald Beyond is the final entry in the SaGa franchise. Before this release, Square Enix launched SaGa Scarlet Grace: AmbitionsSaGa Frontier Remastered, and Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered. In SaGa Emerald Beyond, players can explore various distinct worlds with different protagonists, a franchise hallmark. Innovative features fuel the game, such as the Scan and Visions system. Upon entering a world, the protagonist can scan their surroundings and activate Visions, showing beams of light of different colors indicating which events they can approach. Red visions are battles, green are side quests, and blue are the main story. All lead to a dimensional door, and upon interacting with it, the event occurs.

Regarding battles, SaGa Emerald Beyond brings the same turn-based combat as its predecessor. A timeline in the center of the interface dictates the order of action for the fighters. To execute a move, battle points are consumed, expressed in stars, and shared among the team. It is possible to accumulate more battle points during the battle, allowing the use of more powerful abilities. The Glimmer mechanic returns, where our characters randomly learn new moves in the heat of battle.

The SaGa franchise was born as Makai Toushi SaGa in Japan but was known as The Final Fantasy Legend in the West, leveraging the brand's fame. It didn't take long for the franchise to acquire its international moniker in Romancing SaGa, and since then, it has become one of Square Enix's longest-running RPG series.

In addition to this entry in the mainline, Square Enix has promised to produce more remasters, and perhaps remakes, of SaGa games. The developer has been repeating this practice in various releases such as Live A LiveTrials of Mana, and the remake trilogy of the classic Final Fantasy VII.

SaGa Emerald Beyond will be released for PlayStation 4|5, Switch, and PC via Steam, iOS, and Android on April 25th. You can check our comparator for the cheapest CD key deals on SaGa Emerald Beyond and discover one of the most unusual JRPGs ever released.
