Rumors about the RTX 5090 using two 16-pin connectors dismissed
Rumors surrounding the RTX 5090, NVIDIA’s next-generation flagship graphics card, have been circulating frequently. Recently, speculation that the RTX 5090 would use two 16-pin power connectors caused concern among many gamers, prompting them to consider upgrading their existing computer power supplies.
However, Segotep has publicly refuted this rumor. The company stated that they have obtained information about the RTX 5090 and confirmed that the graphics card will only require one 16-pin power connector.
Segotep, a relatively new entrant in the industry, is a Chinese company that produces power supplies. Although this brand is not widely known, it frequently appears on Chinese social media platforms. Segotep also revealed that the RTX 5090 is expected to launch in January 2025. The company is reportedly collaborating with graphics card manufacturer Colorful to develop the RTX 50 series, which will feature a MEOW-themed product line.

Segotep’s clarification has provided relief to the gaming community, as upgrading power supplies to support two 16-pin connectors could be quite expensive. Nonetheless, misleading rumors like these have led some consumers to reconsider the power supply they plan to purchase. Keep in mind that dual 16-pin (12V-2×6) configurations are rare in today's power supplies. Nevertheless, in the event that the RTX 5090 does indeed use two 16-pin connectors, users would still have the option to use an adapter.
Despite the rumors being dismissed, fans will still need to wait for official information from NVIDIA regarding the RTX 5090 for a more accurate understanding of the graphics card.
