Razer’s Barracuda V2 Pro brings premium wireless audio beyond gaming

Razer Barracuda V2 Pro aims to be your go-to headset for gaming and travel

Razer has expanded its Barracuda headset lineup with the Barracuda V2 Pro, a premium wireless gaming headset designed to work equally well at home and on the go. Combining multi-platform connectivity, hybrid active noise cancellation, and a foldable design, the new model aims to bridge the gap between a dedicated gaming headset and everyday over-ear headphones.

At the heart of the Barracuda V2 Pro are Razer's 40mm TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers, which offer a frequency response range of 12Hz to 20kHz and an impedance of 32 ohms. The headset also supports THX Spatial Audio+ for positional audio in compatible games. Its leatherette memory foam ear cushions are designed for comfort, while the earcups fold inward to reduce its size for travel.

Razer has also made the headset easier to carry by providing storage for its 2.4GHz wireless dongle inside the left earcup. Weighing 285 grams, the Barracuda V2 Pro is relatively lightweight, and its understated black finish omits RGB lighting entirely.

Microphone options include an integrated beamforming microphone system with AI-powered noise cancellation for calls on the go, alongside a detachable Razer HyperClear full-band boom microphone for gaming. This dual-microphone setup allows users to switch between a more discreet everyday configuration and a dedicated microphone for multiplayer sessions.

Connectivity is another major selling point. The headset supports 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired connections, with simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth connectivity allowing users to connect to multiple devices at once. Razer rates battery life at up to 70 hours with active noise cancellation disabled, although actual endurance will depend on usage and settings.

The Barracuda V2 Pro is priced at $199.99 / €219.99 / £199.99 and it is available via Razer’s store, positioning it firmly in the premium headset market. While the specifications look promising, details such as fit improvements over previous Barracuda models and the precise capabilities of wired audio remain unclear. A less expensive, non-Pro Barracuda V2 could also join the lineup in the future, though Razer has not confirmed any such model.

In addition to introducing the Barracuda V2 Pro, this launch builds momentum directly following several other recent high-profile Razer gaming gear announcements. These recent additions to Razer's product ecosystem include the flagship Basilisk V4 gaming mouse and the highly customizable Wolverine V4 controller.
