Xbox Insiders receive new startup animation alongside more features

Microsoft rolls out new Xbox startup animation and several new features

Microsoft has begun rolling out a new Xbox Insider update that introduces several upcoming features for Xbox consoles, including a redesigned startup animation, Gamerscore milestone badges, and improved game library filters.

One of the biggest additions is the new boot-up sequence for Xbox Series X|S consoles. Previously teased by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, the updated startup animation features the refreshed Xbox logo with the return of the brand’s classic green styling alongside updated sound effects. Xbox Insiders can now preview the experience ahead of its wider release.

The update also introduces new tiered Gamerscore badges. These badges visually represent a player’s lifetime Gamerscore progress, starting at 1,000 points and scaling all the way up to 10 million. The badges will appear on player profiles and within the Guide menu, making achievement progress easier to showcase across accounts. As your total Gamerscore grows, your badge evolves with you, reflecting every milestone along the way.

Another major change focuses on game library management. New filters now make it easier to distinguish between games users personally own, titles shared through other accounts, and games playable on different devices. The update also highlights installed titles that players no longer have access to. According to Xbox Senior Product Manager Alex Charters, the goal is to make game ownership and accessibility much clearer, especially for players moving between devices or sharing libraries.

The update is heading out to some Xbox Insiders now and will hit everyone else soon. If you want to try out the new stuff early, just join the Xbox Insider Program on your console or PC. We don't have an exact time for the new boot-up sequence to go live today, so just keep an eye out for that system update!
