Evercade’s Nexus handheld gets a DOOM Edition limited to 3,000 units

Evercade Nexus gets a special DOOM Edition with just 3,000 units available

QuakeCon may be all about Quake, but DOOM is getting plenty of attention this year too. To celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary, Evercade has revealed a special DOOM Edition of its upcoming Nexus handheld, alongside a new DOOM Collection cartridge packed with classic games and expansion content.

The Evercade Nexus was already shaping up to be one of the company's most ambitious retro handhelds. Launching in October, the premium device features a bright 5.89-inch display, dual analog sticks, and a textured grip designed to make longer gaming sessions more comfortable. Now, fans of id Software's legendary shooter have another reason to be interested.

Blaze Entertainment has unveiled the Limited Edition Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition, a collector's bundle limited to just 3,000 units worldwide. It is being sold exclusively through Funstock for $249.99 / £199.99 / €239.99, with pre-orders opening on August 7 ahead of the October 30 launch.

The bundle includes a DOOM-themed Nexus handheld, a hard-shell carrying case, comic book, keyring, double-sided poster, custom packaging, and a numbered certificate of authenticity. It also comes with an oversized boxed version of The DOOM Collection cartridge.

The cartridge brings together eight classic campaigns, including the original DOOM and DOOM II, along with TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, and both SIGIL episodes. There's also a dedicated deathmatch map pack for local multiplayer. Evercade isn't simply throwing the old games onto a cartridge, either. The collection includes exclusive extras such as gameplay modifiers, adjustable violence settings, and additional multiplayer options, giving longtime fans a few new ways to revisit these classics.

If you don't want the limited-edition handheld, the standard DOOM Collection cartridge will launch separately on October 30 for $29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99. The cartridge is already available to pre-order, while anyone after the DOOM-themed Nexus will need to head over to Funstock. With only 3,000 units being produced worldwide, this is one of those retro gaming releases where waiting too long could mean missing out entirely.
