Epic Games Store gets new features and continues giving away free games
You already know that you can get free games every week at Epic Games Store at least until the end of the year. This week is no different, and you just have to log in with your account to claim two great games. Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden and Hyper Light Drifter are available for free at Epic Games Store until August 22 Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a tactical role-playing game developed by Funcom which takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting where radiation has changed the world, and the very few survivors struggle to find resources and shelter. It has a gameplay style similar to the games in XCOM series but with some interesting differences. You will be able to explore the scenarios in real-time however you like, but once you engage enemies, the game will change to turn-based. You will control a group of mutants that will explore a dangerous area known as the Zone in search of the mythical promised land of Eden. During your adventure, your group will earn experience to unlock new skills and also find new weapons. Putting them to good use against ghouls and the other terrible creatures that you will find in the Zone will be necessary if you want to survive.
Hyper Light Drifter is a 2D action role-playing game rendered in a pixelated style. The protagonist of the story, the Drifter, is afflicted with a strange illness and he will have to travel through the Lands of Buried Time in search of a cure. This adventure pays homage to the 16-bit classics, but it features modern mechanics similar to games like The Legend of Zelda or Diablo.
Other than the free games, the latest update to Epic Games Store has also added a couple of new features. The list of games that support Cloud Saving has been extended with seventeen new titles, and they plan to keep increasing the number progressively. Keyless integration with Humble Bundle and Humble Store has been enabled too, and now you can link your Epic Games account to your Humble account, enabling you to purchase games directly from the Humble store without requiring a redemption key. Finally, all of the product pages have been refreshed with new videos, descriptions, and additional information to provide better information to the customers. Epic Games is putting a lot of effort into making its store competitive, and if they keep pushing forward, they may end surpassing Steam as the digital gaming platform of choice for many players.
