CD Projekt Red has been the victim of a cyber attack
The problems of CD Projekt Red don't seem to end with Cyberpunk 2077. It all started even before the game was released with the multiple postponements the game has suffered. Those can't be considered unusual given the number of games that have faced similar situations for almost a year. Things got really tough when Cyberpunk 2077 was released, especially with the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. This was followed by the game's removal from the PS Store and even some legal actions.
Somehow things had started to improve for CD Projekt Red, who seemed determined to fix the problems in the game and give players the game they deserve. But the studio is now taking a big hit with a cyberattack that puts CD Projekt Red back in the midst of turmoil. They announced it in a long statement via their Twitter account.

An unidentified actor gained unauthorized access to our internal network, collected certain data belonging to CD PROJEKT capital group, and left a ransom note the content of which we release to the public. [...] We will not give in to the demands or negotiate with the actor being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised data.
CD Projekt Red assures that no personal data of players has been stolen, and declares that it is currently carrying out an investigation together with the competent authorities. On the other hand, the hacker claimed in his ransom note to possess certain data that would include the source code of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, Gwent, and "an unpublished version of The Witcher 3." He also threatened to reveal that information along with others. Beyond the economic interest, the actor seems to be quite upset with CD Projekt Red and promises to permanently ruin their reputation.
CD Projekt Red has not released any new information about this matter, but we imagine that they will keep players informed as the situation evolves.
