Always competitive, Apple has announced its own gaming subscription service for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. During Apple event 2019, the company announced updates and additional services for its users. Included in the announcement you can find the new Apple Card, News Plus, TV Series, and what we’re curious about – Apple Arcade.

What is Apple Arcade?

Apple Arcade is a subscription service exclusive for Apple users. For a monthly fee, users can access over a hundred premium games through the App Store. It will be available this fall in more than 150 countries worldwide including the UK and Australia. This game subscription is said to be the world’s first game subscription service for mobile, PC, and TV. On its announcement, Apple emphasized that the service supports both multiplayer & AR. The Apple Arcade service will be accessed using a new tab in your device’s App store.

Dissimilar to Google’s Stadia, the games aren’t streamed and will be playable online and offline. No information has been released about the cost of the subscription yet; however, they specified that once you are subscribed, you are free to play as much as you want without ads or additional purchases. What are the games included in Apple Arcade? Games from various developers will be playable through Apple Arcade. The list includes Annapurna Interactive, Konami, Lego, Cartoon Network, Sega, Hinobu Sakaguchi, Will Wright, Ken Wong, Snowman, Ustwo, Mistwalker, Bossa Studios, Giant Squid, and Klei Entertainment. make sure there is no damage to your phone and the phone is all ready for gaming. In the announcement trailer, several games that are of console quality were highlighted. One of the games featured is called Beyond a Steel Sky and it looks like an open world sci-fi featuring art from Watchmen co-creator Dave Gibbons. The graphics are great, as well as the narrative and the gameplay – everything is said to be designed to be as immersive as possible. Another one is from Sakaguchi, creator of Fantasia and Final Fantasy. It’s a game that’s created from scratch, buiding dioramas to use as settings for the game and then adding 3D characters to make it realistic.

Apple certainly has a lot up its sleeves especially now that they have become an active part of the gaming industry. More information and updates will probably be available in the following months, so keep a close watch and subscribe to our blog for the latest news.
