A Legend of Mana remake is in the works

Japanese-style role-playing games have a lot of followers and among those, the Mana series is one of the most popular classics in the genre. Secret of Mana was released in 1993 and it was followed by several games that continued to explore the world of Fa'Diel on Nintendo's consoles through the years. The release of Legend of Mana in 1999 brought the series to PlayStation for the first time, and we have recently seen the resurgence of the series with the launch of the new versions of Trials of Mana and Secret of Mana, which have caused a renewed surge of interest in the JRPG classic series.

Square Enix announced yesterday that a new version of the classic Legend of Mana is currently in development. It will feature remastered graphics in HD and a new orchestral score to deliver an epic gameplay experience adapted to the new systems. You can take a peek at the gameplay in the announcement video.

In Legend of Mana, you will be the hero in charge of restoring the world of Fa'Diel to its former self after a cruel war that caused the different lands of the world to be stored in ancient artifacts. The game features a unique system in which you will generate the world by placing those artifacts on a map. As you explore the newly created lands, you will take on different missions that will get you to fight against a plethora of enemies. By completing those missions, you will have access to additional equipment and weapons for your characters, as well as more artifacts that will let you expand the world of the game with new lands.

The new version of Legend of Mana is coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on June 24th.
