The next Harry Potter game would be available on new generation consoles
We have been hearing about it for a while now, but the existence of a new Harry Potter game seems to be now undeniable, and its details have become clearer in recent months. It all started with a video that appeared on the net in 2018 and that was presented as a trailer for a future RPG based on the Harry Potter saga. Having leaked on the internet, it can't really be proved that the video is authentic, yet it seems largely believable, contrary to all the rumors that we have seen here and there.
At the moment no information on the game has come from official sources, but it turns out that an insider known for the reliability of the information he shares, has expressed himself on the game. This is Jason Schreier, formerly working with Kotaku and now working for Bloomberg. According to him, this Harry Potter game would be an open-world RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Interactive. It would take place at Hogwarts, and according to certain rumors, before the events of Fantastic Beasts. Schreier did not express himself about those rumors though.
However, we also learned that this Harry Potter RPG is currently one of the most important projects at Warner Bros., with a big budget, that the game will be released at the end of next year, 2021, on next-gen consoles, and that it was supposed to be unveiled at E3 this year. Obviously, with the event being canceled, the plans had to be changed. It also seems that the recent controversy surrounding the author of the novels, J.K Rowling, is not for nothing. According to the sources of Jason Schreier, who would work directly on the game, she wouldn't be too involved in the project.
We also got to know that the announcement was to be accompanied by a new Batman game and that the new roadmap would be as follows:
The new plan is to unveil the Batman game in August at a digital event called DC FanDome, and the Harry Potter game will be revealed later.
All this is obviously to be taken with a pinch of salt since we are still waiting for an official announcement on this Harry Potter game, which should arrive soon if we believe these statements.
