ASUS ROG unveils availability for two ultra-fast OLED gaming monitors

ASUS’ latest ROG Ace OLED monitors are now available with 720Hz and 540Hz

ASUS is expanding its premium ROG gaming monitor lineup with two new 25-inch OLED displays designed for competitive players. Alongside two other models in August after having announced the first-ever 25-inch 1080p OLED monitor in June, the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace and ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace are now listed as available through official retail channels, although some stores are still taking preorders.

Both displays use LG's Tandem OLED panel technology and offer a 1920 × 1080 resolution, prioritizing refresh rates and responsiveness over pixel density. ASUS has also confirmed that the PG259QWS Ace will serve as the official esports monitor for the 2026 PGL Major tournament.

The more expensive PG259QWS Ace pushes refresh rates to an extraordinary 720Hz, making it one of the fastest gaming monitors announced for competitive play. Its TrueBlack Glossy panel is designed to deliver deep blacks and clear visuals, with peak brightness reaching 1,700 nits and coverage of 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. ASUS also specifies a 0.02ms gray-to-gray response time, helping minimize motion blur during fast-paced gameplay.

To handle the demanding bandwidth requirements, the monitor includes DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, supporting up to 80Gbps for uncompressed video transmission. Two HDMI 2.1 ports and a 3.5mm audio jack round out the connectivity options. Please see Asus' website for more details about its first 720 Hz OLED gaming monitor.

The ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace retains much of the same core technology but tops out at 540Hz. Its main connectivity compromise is the use of DisplayPort 1.4 instead of the flagship model's higher-bandwidth DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20. That difference, alongside the lower refresh rate, helps explain the $400 price gap.

The flagship PG259QWS Ace costs $1,099 (around €1,149), while the 540Hz XG259QWPG Ace is priced at $699 (around €601). In the UK, the monitors are listed at £998.99 for the PG259QWS Ace 720Hz model and £628.99 for the 540Hz version, with both expected to ship on November 25. ASUS lists a three-year warranty for both monitors, including panel burn-in coverage.

With these new displays, the company is clearly targeting esports players who value maximum responsiveness and motion clarity above all else.
