8BitDo grows its value-focused gamepad lineup with the Ultimate 3C+

8BitDo adds a new budget-friendly wireless controller with the Ultimate 3C+

8BitDo has expanded its Ultimate 3 controller lineup with a more affordable wireless model that retains several features typically associated with higher-end gamepads. The new Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller builds on the Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller, introducing adjustable-tension TMR joysticks, switchable trigger modes, and a revised grip design while keeping the price affordable.

The Ultimate 3 series first appeared at CES 2026 with the Ultimate 3E Controller for Xbox. 8BitDo followed up in May with the cheaper Ultimate 3 Controller for Xbox, available in Lavender Edition, Mossy Lagoon, and a Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary variant. The Ultimate 3C+ is the latest addition, although it is designed for Windows PCs and Android devices rather than Xbox consoles.

One of its main features is 8BitDo's Dual Force Ring system, which lets users adjust the tension of the TMR joysticks to suit different games. The controller also features a wider grip angle than its predecessor, which the company says should improve comfort during extended sessions.

The triggers offer additional flexibility, allowing players to switch between Hall Effect and non-linear trigger modes using a physical switch. Two lockable rear buttons provide extra inputs, while remappable L4 and R4 bumpers offer more control options. The included 2.4GHz wireless adapter has also been redesigned to attach magnetically to the back of the controller when not in use.

Connectivity options include 2.4GHz wireless, wired USB, and Bluetooth 5.4 for Android devices. Both wired and 2.4GHz modes support a 1,000Hz polling rate, while 8BitDo's 8Speed wireless technology is designed to deliver a stable connection with latency as low as 1ms. Other features include turbo functionality and synchronized vibration in the triggers and grips.

A 500mAh battery powers the controller for up to 20 hours over 2.4GHz wireless or 32 hours through Bluetooth. Charging takes approximately two hours via USB-C.

The 8BitDo Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller costs $39.99 (around €39.99 / £34.99) and is available to pre-order through Amazon and 8BitDo's online store ahead of its October 30 release. Buyers can choose from Avocado Green, Frost White, and Stealth Black. The package includes a USB cable, the 2.4GHz adapter, and a DIY cardboard stand. At this price, the Ultimate 3C+ could be an appealing option for PC and Android gamers seeking advanced controls without paying for a flagship gamepad.
